What Should the Ideal Nose Be Like?

What Should the Ideal Nose Be Like?

The concept of beauty has not remained the same over the years, it has constantly changed. However, if there is something that has remained common over the years, it is concepts such as the Golden Ratio and symmetry. The history of these concepts dates back to Ancient Greece. Since people generally have similar ideas about the beauty of the objects and people they see, these phenomena have been used to define attractiveness in architecture, paintings and even people from the beginning of history to the present.

In other words, concepts such as the golden ratio and symmetry have always attracted people. Here, symmetry is of particular importance. The reason for this is that one of the most important qualities that make a human face look attractive is symmetry and it has an important place in the perception of beauty.

While some lucky people can be born with a correctly proportioned, symmetrical nose, others are not so lucky. However, this situation is no longer a fate. In other words, today you do not have to live with the nose you were born with. You can choose Rhinoplasty, a cosmetic procedure that takes symmetry into account, and achieve the nose of your dreams.

Characteristics of an Attractive Nose

One of the biggest challenges surgeons have to face is determining what patients want from their surgery. You need to understand and follow a special formula to get what you want. Since everyone has a unique face, it often becomes very difficult to determine the characteristics and features of a nose that will suit a particular face. In general, there are a few things that most people want to change and see as a reference point. These are as follows;

• Width: First of all, most people want their nose to be thin. Therefore, narrowing the overall width is an important part of Rhinoplasty.

Nose Tip: Another feature that people want is an ideal nose tip. Many people have thick nasal skin that makes the tip of the nose round instead of pointed.

Nostril Size: The nostrils are designed to carry air to the lungs. However, they also play a major role in the aesthetic appearance of the face. Alarplasty can help provide similar smaller or symmetrical nostrils.

Angle between the base of the nose and the upper lip: The basic criterion for determining an ideal nose is the angle between the base of the nose and the upper part of your upper lip. This can help define a more feminine or more masculine nose.

Overall shape in relation to the face: Finally, the nose needs to fit in with the rest of your face. Otherwise, a perfect nose on a flawed face doesn’t make much difference.

What Path Do We Follow at Renate?

In light of this information, we can now come to the path we follow at our clinic Renate. Namely, one of the most important questions our patients ask us is how the ideal nose should be. As you can understand from the previous parts of our article, there is actually no clear answer to this question. Because the concept of beauty, a beautiful nose, and accordingly a beautiful face and a beautiful person change depending on the period. The perception of beauty is a perception that can change according to each period and each geography, but there are still some standards that science offers us. In other words, although there are no very clear boundaries determined for a beautiful nose, science gives us certain measurements, angles and standards. While these describe an average nose on the one hand, they also aim not to spoil the nose functionally. Therefore, the nose can be examined in three sections. These are;

• Upper part of the nose: This is the part where the bone structures of the nose are located.

Middle part of the nose: This is a part made up of cartilage and contributes to breathing.

Lower part of the nose: This is the part of the nose that is much more specific and has a more complex structure. It consists of cartilage and soft tissues.

The bridge of the nose, the middle part of the nose and the tip of the nose are evaluated differently in male and female patients. While straight lines and soft transitions are considered aesthetic in men, noses that are slightly more curved and have a distinct transition are considered aesthetic in women.

In the past, when rhinoplasty was less performed, accessibility was more limited and rhinoplasty was not actually understood, generally collapsed, relatively collapsed and highly curved noses with reduced bone and cartilage structure were preferred. Today, this situation is different. Namely, more natural lines and noses that avoid exaggerations are now accepted and appreciated.

However, the nose shapes to be made according to the patients’ requests vary. Especially our young female patients tend towards more curved and “cool” noses, while male patients prefer straighter lines and smoother transitions. The differences do not end there. For example, while the tip of the nose is more upturned in female patients, it is slightly straighter in male patients and the lip and nose have an angle of approximately 90 degrees. This situation varies in certain characteristics depending on the patient and the proportions of the patient’s face, lip and chin.
